This is also happening in the area of Workers Compensation and has a great effect on premiums. In our premium and reserve reviews we do for employers we often see where cases have been hardball denied to try to reach a lowball settlement.

I guess this is how it works these days. I'm just afraid that sooner or later, there will be more devastating effect to the premiums industry.

it is getting ridiculous the amount of power the ins co's have over the law makers in the form of lobbyists that pay for their campaigns. all the laws that u have described I'm sure were written by the co's themselves so that they can make more money. the ceo's get insane salaries and then complain that the company is struggling to make ends meet. not to mention the fact that anytime there is a major disaster they get the government to pay instead claiming that the pay off would bankrupt them. for evidence of that u just need to look at the ins co's unwillingness to pay for katrina and 9/11!!!!!!!
